Bucks County, PAAI in water utilities is moving past experiments — and smaller operators are leading the way.
In a new feature, H2O Global News spoke with Richard Pierone, Director of Operations at Newtown Artesian Water Company, and Delta Bravo AI CEO Rick Oppedisano about what AI is actually doing for a small utility with big regulatory obligations.
Pierone found Aquaspec through a National Association of Water Companies meeting. Today his team uses it for regulatory documentation, operating procedures and asset management — work that once went to outside engineering firms.

What Changed
Consumer Confidence Report, Risk and Resilience Assessment and Long-Term Infrastructure Improvement Plan — prepared internally instead of outsourced.
A PFAS treatment system manual condensed into short operations and maintenance guides, with every point traced back to the source.
Leak history, pipe age and replacement costs combined to rank higher-risk mains — an assessment the team can rerun any time.
“The biggest impact has been reducing our reliance on our engineering firm for reports that we are fully capable of producing ourselves but previously did not have the time to take on.”

“The people who would benefit most from AI are often too busy to adopt it.”

Aquaspec works from curated regulations, industry standards and each utility’s own records, and shows its sources — so operators can check every answer before it goes out the door.
